Festival program completed at Radøy

The program for one of the big annual events about emigration from Norway, The Emigration Festival at Western Norway Emigration Center at Radøy outside Bergen, is now completed. The main topic for the seminar in 2008 is: "Why and how did groups and individuals leave Norway - and what did they meet in their new homelands".

People from Telemark Heritage visited the festival last year, and the year before. We very much admire what they have managed to do at Radøy. In July a delegation of at least 6 people from Telemark Heritage is visiting the annual festival at Sletta at Radøy. Why not join us, you will never regret it. Jørn Olsen from Grenland Ættehistorielag in Skien has now completed his work about Dr. Johan Christian Serkland (1872 - 1948). Dr. Serkland was the son of Peder Pedersen Serkland and Helene Sigurdsdtr., who emigrated from Siljan in Telemark in 1886. Dr. Serklands office from Rothsay, Minnesota is re-built at Western Norway Emigration Center at Radøy outside Bergen.
